We are currently accepting photo submissions for Dogs About Town, Cover Dog Profile and In Remembrance pictorial features!

Please read the instructions and guidelines below to ensure a successful submission.

General guidelines for all photo feature sections:

• Photos will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference for local dogs. Photos of non-local / out-of-state dogs may be submitted, but please be advised that West Suburban Dog is a free community magazine distributed throughout the western suburbs of Chicago. If a photo you submit is chosen for publication and you are not within our distribution range, the only way you will be able to receive a copy of the magazine is to purchase a single issue. The current $4.50 purchase price of a single issue is to cover mailing services only.
• Photos must be clear and in focus. Get as much of your dog as possible in frame.
• Send the largest file size possible. Use the highest setting on your digital camera. Photos must be 300+ dpi to print.
• Photos taken with camera phones may or may not be usable.
• Avoid distracting backgrounds and think about contrast: dogs with light coloring look best on dark backgrounds and vice versa.
• Avoid the inclusion of people in your photos. Your dog is the star!
• Natural, outdoor light photographs best.
• The more photos you send, the better chance you have of your dog being selected. Please send multiple photos!

To submit a photo for Dogs About Town or the Cover Dog Profile, please complete the following TWO STEPS:

1. Complete the standard Photo Submission Form online ( found here ).

2. Send your photo(s) to: photos@WestSuburbanDog.com . Include the name of your dog in the email subject line.
