Philosophy of Service:
Our personal experiences with dog daycare were really the genesis of Top Dog Retreat and the development of our philosophy to provide high-quality dog care. We saw first-hand that many daycare and boarding facilities had somewhat of a ‘free-for-all’ approach and that many did not welcome clients to view the whole facility, as though something was being hidden. Having witnessed what was being offered, we knew that we could build something different, and better.

“Our foundation is centered on providing a clean, safe environment truly designed for the benefit of dogs,” Jan says. “Another cornerstone is our staff. Beyond their passion for dogs, they become team members based on their experience and the capability to contribute to our vision of best-in-class dog care services.

“Through time, we’ve learned so much from the dogs, our customers and the whole dog community, including veterinarians, rescues and foster organizations as well as the educational events that we attend. All of these have contributed to how we’ve adapted our philosophy to be substantially more than daycare, boarding and training.

“Each new dog that walks in the door is an opportunity for us to find ways to make his or her life more enjoyable. Help a puppy develop good manners, talk to an owner about the importance of nutrition, address undesirable behaviors, comfort a senior dog, or help decipher the puzzle of a rescued pup… we have grown to understand a great deal more about how we can make a difference. Now, we feel that Top Dog Retreat becomes an extension of your dog’s family. We genuinely get to know each dog, and go beyond our core services to complement the partnerships between dogs and their families.”
